NUTRITION – A Definition and Some Discussion
Many High-Level Academic Programs, up to and including the Doctorate Level of studies in Biology / Food Science, will have their own voluntary (and mandatory) certification boards, as well as professional associations, and peer reviewed qualifications. The American Society for Nutrition has a large member population, and this brings a great deal of influence upon the Flow of Information – about Nutrition.
A poor (deficient) diet will have an damaging impact on a person's health, causing nutritional deficiency diseases; Examples are “Scurvy” and Osteo-porosis. Other health threatening conditions like obesity, and the various metabolic syndromes, are often directly related to the quality of Nutrition received. Many common, chronic systemic diseases, such as Cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and glandular failure can usually be directly associated with poor Nutrition.
Human nutrition is the provision (and the action) to obtain the materials necessary to support life. In general, a human can survive from two to eight weeks without food, depending upon the individual's general health condition, stored body fat, and over-all muscle mass of THAT Individual. Survival without any water is almost always limited to three days. Lack of food (or a poor quality of food) remains a serious problem, with about 36 million people (world-wide) dying every year from causes which are directly, or indirectly, related to malnutrition.
Childhood malnutrition is (Very Sadly) pervasive in the poor regions around the world, and this malnutrition Very Much Contributes to the overall global burden of disease, deformity, and shorted mental development. Malnutrition is also a Very Serious Problem right here in the Good Old U.S. of A.; But – for a very different reason – which we will address in detail, in just a minute. Global food distribution is not equal, and both malnutrition and obesity among various specific human populations has increased to almost epidemic proportions, leading to additional, directly related health complications, –and– to increased mortality in both developed, and in developing countries. Obesity is often caused by a poor quality of food, and also by some very inappropriate nutritional sources. Excessive weight gain is (generally) a combination of "unhealthy" food choices, and food intake. This will be seen as having a high content of refined fat, refined sugars, and highly processed carbohydrates.
Additionally, there is a host of problems caused by a concurrent Lower Protein intake. This problem will be exacerbated by, in many cases, insufficient exercise, or no exercise, at all.
THINK About THIS . . .
Here We Are at "Starvation's Doorstep" . . . !
It may sound over-dramatized, but it is Not. With our commercially grown and harvested "food" that we depend upon in these United States of America – for Nourishing our bodies; We as a nation are, Quite literally, Starving Ourselves while Eating. I will Explain. It comes down to Soil Depletion. The Midwest "Grain Belt" of the U.S.A. and Canada provides a large portion of the food that we eat every day - Our Bread, Cereal, Condiments, Milk Products, Eggs, and Meat – ( Beef, Pork, and Poultry ) – ALL Come From the Grain -or- the Animals which feed on the grain; – and All Are Grown by Corporate Agriculture. The Soil that ALL of this "Food" comes from, is Severely Depleted. The ONLY Replenishment that Any of this Soil Gets ( Except for the Organic Growers – God Bless 'em ) is the Standard "N-P-K" Fertilizer. This Soil Gets NO Other Replenishment! That is because the "New" Hybrid Wheats being grown are developed to produce short stalks and Large Grain Heads on just "NPK" Fertilizer ALONE ! They DO NOT PRODUCE ANY MEASUREABLE NUTRITION !
About 57 years ago, I was just out of High School, working in the Summer grain harvest. The grain that I was hauling from the combines (in the fields) to the Grain elevators, would be tested for sugar ( As a % of carbo-hydrates), moisture content - ( As a % ), and simple raw protein. ( Measured in grams per Kilogram). All of the grain that I hauled (40 Tons a Load) was grown "Dry Land" style, (not irrigated) and would generally Test at around 12 - 14 % protein – and from 10 to 15 % carbohydrates. For the Production Hybrids grown Today, that same load (From the Hybrid Wheats mentioned just above) would test to Less Than 4 or 5 % each ! Notice any differences here ?
Important Note: Also Remember - "GMO" Grains will Test around Zero. "GMO" Grains represent 89% of All Corn, 93% of All Wheat, and 96% of All Soybeans Grown in the U.S.A.

O.K., So How Do We Determine –
MEASURED NUTRITIONAL VALUE – M. N. V.
Before we begin the Vital Pursuit of Growing Real Nutrition, we must have a basic understanding of the Complete, Correct, and Accurate Measurement of Real Nutritional Value. The nomenclature "M.N.V." means "Measured Nutritional Value". The actual testing is done in the Food Science Laboratories at a number of the Largest and Best Individual State Agricultural (Land Grant) Universities.
The Actual Testing to determine "M.N.V." – "Measured Nutritional Value” – Is Conducted as Follows:
1. ) The Plant Food Component (or P.F.C.) to be tested, is obtained by using one of the available Standard Harvesting Processes.
2.) The P.F.C. is cleaned, weighed, and carefully prepared hygienically - for testing.
3. ) An exact weight of just One Plant's "Fruit" (or P.F.C.) is placed in a “Refraction Chamber”, and then sealed. This process resembles the Molecular “Fractioning” process which is used in metallurgical testing.
4. ) The P.F.C. is "Cooked" at Incrementally increasing Temperature Levels, in an upward sequential (stair-step) fashion, in the sealed Refraction Chamber. Then the "Out–Gassing" is passed through a highly sophisticated Photo-Spectrometric Comparator, which is composed of a computer-based WideBand Spectrometer. This is where the chemical components of the gases from the Food Sample being tested, are identified, measured (with micro-precision), and then carefully recorded.
5.) Using computer based “optical comparator” software, a Precise Interpretation is then made by the highly trained Lab Technicians. They Identify, Measure, and then Record Each Specific "Nutritional" Component. The exact and respective amount(s) of the actual chemical components present, are added to the Complete Listing.
6. ) So – Now we Know Precisely: How Much of Each identified Nutritional Component is contained within that Specific Sample!
So Why do we need a Scale of [ 0 – 200 ] for M.N.V. ? That is Because the Real World Results have that Wide of a Variation.
The SPECIFIC COMPONENTS of M.N.V. – What we are Testing for – (The Components that we Need to Identify and Measure) Are as Follows:
a.) The Broad-Spectrum Amino Acids – Protein (Up to 21 different A.A.P.'s – Amino Acid Proteins)
b.) The Digestible (chelated) Forms of Sugars and Starches (Measured Carbohydrates – the Invertase derivatives)
c.) The Component Vitamins and Minerals – Appearing in Digestible “bio-flavonoid” form - and. . .
d.) Healthy and Usable Roughage (Fibre) – WITH NO Toxins ! Toxins will be treated separately.
Some Important Notes Regarding "Measured Nutritional Value" . . .
> Proteins are nitrogenous compounds which are composed of amino acids – (Up to 21 are possible). All vegetables provide some protein. The percentage of protein in vegetable legumes (especially Dry Beans), is as high, or higher, than that of the lean meat in beef.
> Even Some non-legume vegetables such as Organic (GBI Grown) Cereal Grains, Corn, Brussels Sprouts, Collards, and Kale contain more protein than milk does.
> Chelation describes a specific process where organic ions and molecules bind to metal ions or to component molecules. Chelants are the chemicals that form soluble, complex molecules when they bind with certain metal ions. They deactivate those ions, so that they Cannot readily React with another element or compound.
An Example: Nitrogenous compounds, such as some nutritional Proteins, will respond predictably and reliably to Chelants (Chelation). That way, the results can be controlled and accurately measured within this process.
> Carbohydrates – The Total Amount of Carbohydrates (which are, simply, a carbon compound dissolved in water, or other sugar solution) – in a serving of food – corresponds to the sum of ALL Starches, Sugars, and Dietary Fiber. NOTE: Each of these different Carbohydrate components (above) has a very different effect on your blood sugar level –and– on their total useful nutritional benefit. They are All, generally, defined as Carbohydrates, which are – Remember – simple carbon compounds dissolved in a water or sugar solution.
HUMAN HEALTH -- ( That is, GOOD Health ! )
Here is some Good News! Here are Four safe, natural sweeteners that you can enjoy in Moderation, without worrying about any serious consequences.
1.) Organic Maple Syrup: [52 calories per tablespoon] With fewer calories and more immune-boosting nutrients than honey, Real maple syrup tops the list. Try it in coffee or tea, cold or hot cereals, on sweet potatoes, and when baking. Simply replace sugar with the same amount of maple syrup, while decreasing liquid in the recipe by about half a cup. Additional Note: Maple syrup appears to help fight breast and colon cancer cells. Preliminary animal research has shown that maple syrup also is less likely to contribute to the development of type 2 diabetes than ordinary sugar.

3.) "Pure Cane Sugar" (the Un-Bleached Version) from "C & H" - a.k.a. The California and Hawaii Sugar Company. This one is the Easiest one to convert to, to calculate, and to adapt your usage habits. We use the bleached version (It is easier to find, and readily available), because this very small dose of Chlorine won't hurt you. [ Compare this to the 10 drops of Chlorine Bleach Used to Sanitize a gallon of Water ! ]
4.) Stevia: ZERO calories per tablespoon -- Lack of calories makes stevia a popular alternative to synthetic sweeteners. Even major soda companies are developing products using stevia, although make no mistake – that does not mean they are good for you. Stevia can be used as you would use sugar, to sweeten coffee, cereal, and other foods. Just keep in mind that (by volume - it will provide 200 to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, so you won't need much. Stevia is also suitable for baking and cooking. You will need to alter the recipe quite a bit, so We Suggest careful checking for more details on how to do that with your favorite search engine.
BRAIN POISON -- Synthetic Sugar Substitutes
There are more than 3,600 products on grocery store shelves containing these "Artificial" sweeteners. Many of them are sodas and other beverages. Then there are the foods you would not normally expect to be sweetened at all, such as Lean Pockets. To avoid these products, my general rule is to check the ingredient list of ANYTHING LABELED "Reduced Calorie", "Sugar-Free", or simply "Low Calorie" - substituted for the names of those five sweeteners.
One Fact is becoming Increasing Clear: Synthetic Sugar Substitutes are worse for your health than real sugar. Here are some facts to keep in mind.

1.) Encourage greater starch consumption and weight Gain instead of weight Loss.
2.) Confuse the body's hunger mechanisms, so that more starches are consumed.
3.) Tend to further stimulate sugar craving and sweetening dependence.
4.) Have been linked to such health problems as cancer, fibromyalgia, diabetes, brain tumors, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and birth defects.

4. Diacetyl (Butter Flavoring) - Who doesn't love a bag of popcorn? In fact, 17.3 billion quarts are popped each year! But the home-popped variety contains the butter flavor additive diacetyl. Diacetyl is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, a defense which prevents harmful substances from entering the brain. It causes beta-amyloid clumping which is a significant indicator of Alzheimer’s. You won’t see diacetyl on the label, but if you see “artificial butter flavor” or “natural flavors” -- you should avoid it at all costs.
5. Aluminum — More than a Food Additive -- Aluminum is a widely know neurotoxin. It’s in drinking water, antacids, deodorant, drink cans, foil, and is commonly used in cookware. Look for aluminum-free deodorants, baking powder and antacids.

> Growth Hormones: -- These Additives can cause opposite sex characteristics in both sexes of developing children, early puberty, the development of cancer, and infertility. Furthermore, the world is quickly becoming immune to the effects of antibiotics because of constant exposure through the food supply, which means that there is the potential for illnesses that Should Be easily treated to become deadly, due to their Antibiotic resistance.
> Pesticides: -- The Constant Use of Pesticides in conventional farming is rampant. Even the bizzare hijacked reality ( Not Fact Based and Not from Established and Tested Data) of the E. P. A. - (Environmental Protection Agency) has to admit that the ingestion of pesticides can cause health problems. They warn of the risk of “birth defects, nerve damage, cancer, and other effects that might occur over a long period of time.” ( Keep in mind that despite this warning, the EPA just RAISED the acceptable limit of glyphosate(tm) ["RoundUp"] usage on crops at the behest of [Guess who]. Yes, Monsanto). Sadly, the HIGHEST risk of Harm from pesticides are to infants, pre-pubescent children, and the unborn.
> Other Neurotoxins: -- Our commercial water supplies are loaded with fluoride, a neurotoxin that lowers IQ's (Especially among the Young ) and the "Higher Brain Functions". It also causes infertility, and has been directly linked to cancer and the causation of hardening of the arteries. Nearly every packaged food on the grocery shelf is seasoned with MSG - in one of its many "Trade" names, and many lower calorie foods and diet drinks are sweetened with aspartame.
